What are the measures to be taken in tooth decay in children?

The first procedure to protect against dental caries is to have good oral hygiene.

For this purpose, teeth should be brushed at least 2 times a day for 3 minutes.

As an aid to the toothbrush, dental floss and mouthwashes can be used after the age of 6, according to the recommendation of the dentist.

Other methods proven effective in preventing dental caries are fissure sealant and professional fluoride applications.

Fissur sealant (fissure sealant) Dental caries usually begin in grooves called "fissures" on the chewing faces of molar and molar teeth.

With fissure sealant, which is a liquid filling, these grooves are covered, and the start of caries is prevented by preventing leakage of germs, food residues, etc. into that area.

This procedure can also be applied to permanent molar and molar teeth, which arise from the age of 6.

Fluorine Application Another way to prevent caries is by applying topical (superficial) fluoride to the teeth. In this way, it is aimed to increase the resistance of the teeth against caries.

Fluorine is a substance found in all oral care products.

The form used by dentists gives results to prevent caries from occurring especially when applied at certain intervals in individuals prone to dental caries.
